England’s 1966 World Cup successful goalkeeper Gordon Banks has died aged 81, his household says.

In an announcement, launched by Banks’ former membership Stoke Metropolis, his household stated: “It’s with nice unhappiness that we announce that Gordon handed away peacefully in a single day.

“We’re devastated to lose him however we’ve so many completely satisfied reminiscences and couldn’t have been extra pleased with him.”

Banks made a complete of 73 appearances for England throughout his profession, together with each recreation of the victorious 1966 World Cup marketing campaign.
